Research
Dr. Mishra's area of research covers various aspects of Avian Biotechnology encompassing QTL genetics, gene mapping, Molecular breeding for disease resistance, MHC haplotyping and Function Genomics of pigmentation.
Teaching & Research Guidance
Dr. Mishra instructs courses in Cellular and molecular biology covering advances in avian genomics, gene regulation and expression, latest techniques in genome analysis of avian species to the PG scholars at IVRI, Izatnagar, India. He also serves as Chairman, Students Advisory Committee (major guide) in major programs of Poultry Science. So far, he has provided research guidance to 4 PG scholars (2 Ph.D., 2 M.V.Sc. scholars) as major guide/Co-guide and 9 scholars from various disciplines viz., Animal Genetics & Breeding, Poultry Science, Veterinary Biochemistry and Veterinary Microbiology, as a Member in their advisory committees.

Trainings
Obtained an Overseas training on “ Generation of DNA markers” in Intenational Genome mapping lab, ADOL, EL, USA, for 3 months in 2004, sponsored by National Agricultural Technology Project.
Received five National level specialized trainings from reputed institutions viz., CCMB, Hyderabad and IIT, Bombay, during the research career, covering advanced areas of Biotech Research, i.e. DNA Fingerprinting - Hands on –Training; DNA micro-arrays and Proteomics; RNAi in Gene Knockdown &Viral Resistance; Cell Culture Technology and Bioinformatics.
