1: How can I reach this Institute?
Institute is situated in the Bareilly District of Uttar Pradesh, India. Bareilly is well-connected by road, rail and air.

 2: Does CARI, Izatnagar provide training in poultry farming?
Yes, CARI conducts six days farmers' training program on poultry production management thrice in a year. Besides, the institute also offers specialized training courses, each of two-week duration.

3: Which species of poultry are covered during training on poultry farming ?
Layer/ Broiler Chicken, desi (indigenous) fowl, Japanese quail , turkey and Guinea fowl species of poultry at the main campus of institute at Izatnagar, Bareilly, U.P. In addition, short duration training on chicken and duck rearing is also organized at its Regional Centre at Bhubaneswar.

4: Does the institute offer poultry feed formulation and analysis services ?
Yes, the services rendered include feed formulation for different categories of poultry and feed analysis .

5: Is one feed formula applicable for the whole year?/ Are the feed formulae static?
No, feed formulae change due to season, cost and availability of raw material, and the purpose for which the birds are kept.

6: What are the ways of reducing cost of feed for poultry production?
The feed-cost of poultry production can be reduced through precise nutrient supply, judicious use of low-cost locally available feed ingredients and augmenting nutrient utilization.

7: Has the institute developed any software for feed formulation?
Yes, a user-friendly Window based MakeFeed Poultry (version 3.0) software has been developed for formulation of least-cost balanced ration for all categories of poultry. It automatically prepares model criteria and constraints for your ration according to selection of ingredients and ration. You can add any number of ingredients with its composition and cost in your database. The cost is 2600/- including postal charges of Rs. 100/-.

8: Why thin shelled eggs are more common during summer season?
Under heat stress hen begins to pant resulting in more CO2 exhaled than normal. This causes low concentration of CO2 in blood which in turn reduces the availability of carbonate ion for eggshell formation.

9: Is it essential to inseminate the hens on two consecutive days to obtain fertile eggs?
No, only single artificial insemination in evening time is adequate for maintaining good fertility for a week in White leghorn hens.

10: Does male bird determine the sex of offspring in avian species?
No, in contrast to mammalian, in avian species sex is determined by the female having ZW sex chromosome whereas male has ZZ sex chromosome.

11: Why is frequent mating in case of avian species?
In the case of avian species, there is a rapid spermatogenesis process due to large diameter of semniferous tubules and lack of storage site like epididymis. This is the reason for frequent mating in avian species.

12: Do birds sweat under heat stress conditions?
No. There is no sweat glands in the skin of birds, generally birds dissipate body heat through mechanism of panting.

13: How anyone can get technology for preparing value-added egg and chicken meat products?
Technology for value-added poultry products can be obtained against nominal charges from the institute.

14: Whether institute provides help in formulating bankable project for establishing poultry units, what are the charges and mode of payment ?
Yes, from Rs. 3000/- upto Rs. 5 lakhs for bankable projects. The amount is to be deposited in cash at cash counter of the institute or by bank draft drawn in favour of Director, CARI payable at Bareilly.

15: Whether institute provides guarantee for sanctioning of bank loan?
No, the institute has no influence on banking sector. However, assistence/ guidance is provided for this purpose.

16: Is japanese quail farming prohibited under wildlife (protection) act. 1972?
No, the wildlife protection act has been amended so as the premited commercial japanese quail farming in india.
